[:en]Installing a window in the cockpit, how hard can it be actually? Not very it proved to be, at least if you are used to be working with tools and have done some repairs in your house. And as always when it comes to making modifications on something that is expensive and is hard to fix if somethings goes wrong, it´s all down to measure, measure and measure again.
When they built the boat they did not put much thought into the fact that there is a large storage compartment underneath the floor of the cockpit. And you can´t reach it unless you are small like a hobbit and agile as a snake. And because we are going to be out sailing 4 months this summer we are going to need all storage we can get. Because of the aspect of weight distribution on the boat it´s not smart to put a lot of heavy stuff that close to the stern, but it´s going to be a perfect place to put our sleeping bags, mattresses, sailboats and tent. You now, big stuff that does´t weigh much.
The deck window we choose is a Lewmar 600×600 with a low profile. A perfect size that fits perfectly between the teak rails and the tiller. There is a beam underneath the floor of the cockpit that has be taken in to account when positioning the window. The assembly took about two hours to complete.

[:sv]Fönstermontering i sittbrunnen, hur svårt kan det vara egentligen? Inte väldigt visade det sig, i alla fall om man är normalhändig och tar det lugnt. Som vanligt när det ska sågas i något som är dyrt och svårt att laga om det går fel, så gäller mäta, mäta och åter mäta.
När de byggde båten så tänkte dom inte på att det finns ett stort förvaringsutrymme under golvet som inte går att komma åt förutom om man är liten som en hobbit, och smidig som en orm. Eftersom vi kommer att vara ute och segla i fyra månader i sommar och behöver få plats med en del stora och ganska otympliga saker så behöver vi komma åt utrymmet på ett lite smidigare sätt. Men med tanke på viktfördelningen i båten så kommer det inte att vara lämpligt att förvara tung packning så långt akterut i båten, fast det blir ett perfekt ställe att lägga sovsäckar, liggunderlag, segelpåsar, tält. Ja ni vet, skrymmande saker som inte väger så mycket.
Det däcksfönster som vi valde ut är ett Lewmar 600×600 lågprofil. En lagom storlek som passar perfekt mellan teakrailsen och rorkulten. Det ligger en förstärkningsbalk som man måste ta hänsyn till vid placeringen. Nu börjar fönstret 3cm akter om balken. Monteringen tog ungefär två timmar att göra.
